Global Water Technologies completes graduate student project on smart city solutions
INDIANAPOLIS, April 30, 2019 -- Global Water Technologies (OTC: GWTR) has completed a project with a graduate informatics class at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) to explore new applications for smart cities technologies.
The urban campus in downtown Indianapolis was one of the first in the United States to develop curriculum in informatics. A new class on Internet-of-Things (IoT) interface design for business innovation allows graduate students to explore design challenges through team-based learning with industry partners.
The project included an overview of smart water and smart city solutions using new wireless communications networks. Student teams explored opportunities for the use of LoRa networks in rural and smaller communities, identifying ways to complement water utility deployments with additional services and potential new business models.
