Indiana Water Summit kicks off in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, August 12, 2018 -- Global Water Technologies (OTC: GWTR) is pleased to participate in the inaugural Indiana Water Summit that kicks off August 12 and 13 in downtown Indianapolis.

The event brings together more than 200 water leaders and activists from across the state to participate in planning Indiana’s water future. The event is timely, as official closing of the first statewide Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program in the United States is expected to bring $436 million of financing from US EPA for water and wastewater projects across Indiana. Final details of that groundbreaking event have been in process at the state and federal levels since an initial announcement in April.

“We’ll put $436 million in new federal funds to good use in communities around the state to improve aging water infrastructure,” Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb said in April. Closing of two individual WIFIA loans for projects in California took place earlier this summer, as the new federal program moves into the funding stage. Indiana’s statewide program would be the first to include projects in dozens of communities.

This week’s Indiana water summit includes a range of government, utility, business and community leaders and is headlined by Charles Fishman, author of “The Big Thirst”, a best-selling book on efficient use of water resources and smart solutions for the sector.
